Here are the athletes for the 2011 games. Also note we brought the lassies back again! (Athletes subject to change without notice)
The Men:
Gregor Edmunds (Scotland) - Current world caber tossing champion and current number 1 highland games athlete in the world (SHGA Ratified). World highland games champion in 2007 and the 5 time Scottish champion. He broke the long standing SHGA world record for throwing the 28lb weight for distance at the Markinch Games in June 2011. He threw a distance of 95ft 10 ins exceeding the old record by an extraordinary margin of 3ft 5 ins. The throw also exceeds the American version of the record held by the Australian, Matt Sandford of 94ft 6 ins. This puts into perspective past performances of great highland games athletes such as Geoff Capes, Arthur Rowe and Bill Anderson.
Sebastian Wenta (Poland) – Former Polish shot put champion, 3 time winner of the highlander world championship, winner Braemar highland games 2009 and second in the world strongest man competition 2007.
Lorn Coultard (Scotland) – Current under 25 Glenfiddich League HIghland Games Champion.
Lucas Wenta (Poland) – Polish Junior shot put champion and has competed in the world junior championship for Poland.
Dominik Zielinski - 1st place in shot put 2007 in polish championship
Hans Lokema (Holland) – A Dutch champion and currently the best highland games man in Holland.
Mike Pockoski (USA) - 7 times All American Champion and a particularly good hammer thrower - World Hammer Champion 2009. He competes on the North American Games circuit and is regularly in the top 3 competitors.
Mike Zolkiewicz - Mike competes on the North American games Circuit and is the holder of the American Weight for Height record. Mike is a 3 times All American Discus Champion.
Gary Hagen (Scotland) - Gary competes regularly in highland games events and is an accomplished discus thrower and represented Scotland in the Youth Olympic Games.
Neil Elliott (Scotland) - Neil is an experienced highland games athlete and has competed at top level for a number of years. He is the holder of multiple Scottish track and field titles for Shot and discus.
The Women:
Adrienne Blewitt (USA) - 4 time all American shot put champion, 2 time all American discus champion and current ladies world highland games champion.
Stacey Wilson (Scotland) 2009 Under 23 champion - hammer, shot putt and discus.
Anneke Bouma (Holland) – Top ranked Dutch Highland Games Champion
Sandra Petursdottir (Iceland) - The Icelandic national recordholder in olympic hammer throwing.
Shaunagh Brown (England) - Currently ranked number 1 in the UK in the discus event in the under 20 age group. She competes regularly for GB and England, and was runner up in the World Schools Cup event. Shaunagh was a finalist in the World Youth Championships in 2007 and crowned UK School Games Discus Champion.
Pora Porsteinsdottir (Iceland) - The strongest woman in Iceland for 2010
Nina Geria (Ukraine) Junior Shot Putt Champion and Ukraine's Strongest Woman
Mairi Porterfield (Scotland) – Competed in the hammer throw at the Commonwealth games in Manchester in 2002.
Kirsty Yates (Scotland) Scottish Shot Putt Champion
